Miffy at London’s Hyde Park for special care baby charity fundraiser

Much loved children’s character to join Buggy Push in aid of Bliss - June 13

Kicking off a week of 60th birthday celebrations, Miffy, the classic bunny character, will be making a special appearance in Hyde Park on Saturday 13 June to launch a fundraising buggy push in aid of Bliss, the special care baby charity.

Miffy will be at the starting line to wave off parents and children who will be walking one of two designated routes, 3km or 7km, within the park throughout the morning, starting at 11.00am

Families of all ages can join in this event, whilst raising vital funds for Bliss’s work with babies that are born too soon, too small or too sick.

There will be Miffy Bliss t-shirts available from http://www.t-booth.net/. T-shirts are priced £9.99 (children) and £14.99 (adults), £2 of which will be donated to Bliss.

Miffy will officially turn 60 on Sunday June 21, but has been raising money for Bliss all year to celebrate, including baking cakes at their Bake for Bliss event, and visiting children’s nurseries as a part of their Easter Extravaganza.

About Miffy

This is the UK Official Online Press Office for Miffy

Dutch artist, Dick Bruna created the classic children's character, Miffy, in 1955 whilst on a rainy seaside holiday in North Holland. A little bunny kept hopping around the garden of his holiday home - he sketched it by day and at night Dick Bruna made up stories about it to entertain his one year old son. That bunny later became Miffy.

More than 60 years later, there are 33 storybooks about Miffy, which have sold over 85 million copies and are translated in more than 50 languages. Now published in the UK by Simon and Schuster, 16 Miffy storybooks have been refreshed for a modern British audience by award winning poet, Tony Mitton and are available from all good bookshops.

There is Miffy merchandise sold across 5 continents, a new TV series and a movie. Celebrations for Miffy's anniversary will take place worldwide throughout 2015.

The publishing and international rights to Miffy are managed by Mercis bv in Amsterdam.
